NANCY BLAKEY grew up on Bainbridge Island, WA. She spent summers in Bristol Bay, Alaska, working for her family's salmon processing business, where she became an avid outdoor enthusiast who paddles, hikes, forages, and explores the great Pacific Northwest rain or shine, believing adventure can be found outside the back door. By The Shore is a celebration of nature here in the PNW. It is organized by season. It inspired me to plan family outings and spring into action. It includes trip suggestions, seasonal festivals and events, cooking tips, easy and fun outdoor projects and lots of interesting facts about the world around us, like how to see the bioluminescence, meteor showers and other wonders of nature. If you live in the PNW, this is a must have book!

Scattered format not helpful for trip planning - too much about food

Ok, pretty superficial

Love everything about it, the photos, illustrations and narrative, cant wait to plan a trip and explore the Pacific Northwest with" By The Shore" as my guide. Hats off to Ms. Blakey and her assistants for producing this book.
