I love it. As a scientist I cannot progress in some research projects without knowing how to interpret and write Python scripts. This book is amazing. I'm getting it, and I'm proud of myself. Now I can write simple 3-line codes. Yes, I know, that's nothing for the "real programmers", but I'm convinced that at the end of this book, I will rock Python.

I am using this book as a recommended text for my first year physics students who have never programmed before. It is a great introduction to the basic concepts of python coding and has been useful in getting all the students to a point where we can begin to do some physics using Jupyter and pylab in just a week or two.

This book does a decent job of presenting information in very digestible chunks. However, there are just too many errors for it to be useful. You'll type up exactly what is presented to you and find that the code doesn't work. At first I thought this was to showcase examples in debugging, but nope. The book proceeds as if everything went swimmingly. Would recommend Python Crash Course by Eric Matthes instead.

Bought this book to learn the basics of Python - I've programmed in other languages for 50 years. This book reads like it was written by a ninth-grader in high school over a weekend, and never edited by anyone. Many of the examples are confusing or just plain wrong. e.g. page 46: if AX

Python programming for absolute beginners by Brian Jenkins: A good book for beginners. Easy to follow.

Book is horribly written! Peppered with typos, missing words and disordered! If it was edited properly, it would be a great foundation for learning python. As it is u have to infer what author was trying to say and thefore, unable to follow. If anything it showed me mostly WRONG things and not teach the 'right'. Too bad, could have been the best intro to Python book

Good first book for those who want a basic understanding. The book looks cheap and and has some grammatical issues in description. Code examples are easy to follow.

This book does a great job explaining the python programming. Also, it is well organized so when you are coding it is easy to reference.
